** The Cult is releasing its ninth album, Choice of Weapon, on May 22.  Written by founding members Ian Astbury and Billy Duffy, and produced by Chris Goss (Queens of the Stone Age, U.N.K.L.E., Masters of Reality) and Bob Rock (Metallica, Bush, The Cult's Sonic Temple), early press reviews say that the new album is the best album the band has made since the Platinum Sonic Temple.

** The Cult kick off their 2012 world tour on May 25 with a 22-date U.S. tour (supported by Against Me! and The Icarus), then head to Europe in late June and July to play festivals and some headline shows.  Over the course of the Euro dates, they will share stages with GN'R, Ozzy & Friends, Garbage and Faith No More.

** Choice of Weapon reflects the survival in today's volatile world where the sense of entitlement is growing, where we are more and more bombarded by "ones and zeros," where the "hate-nots" increase on a daily basis.  What weapons do we choose to insure a sane future?  A Pen?  A Camera?  A computer?  Education or religion? - and not de-evolve into a "Hunger Games" type scenario?

Iron Man
My Journey Through Heaven and Hell with Black Sabbath By Tony Iommi

In the late 1960s, the music world was inundated with folksy songs that reflected the hippie subculture. When a band called Black Sabbath entered the scene around 1968, their dark music and heavy subject matter-war, famine, and political corruption-shocked and angered people. Despite the pushback, Black Sabbath continued to rail against the usual flower-child fare-and in the process inadvertently birthed a new genre of music: heavy metal.

But it was their lead guitarist, Tony Iommi-the only original member of Black Sabbath who stayed with the group from its inception-who would come to be known as the father of heavy metal. In his memoir Iron Man, he tells how, when he was a teenager, the ends of the two middle fingers on his right hand were sliced off by a piece of machinery. Doctors were able to take skin from one of his arms and graft it to his fingertips, but Iommi would never play the guitar normally again. He had to learn how to compensate for his disability by making the music sound "fuller." Today, he's credited for inspiring and producing the deeper, more powerful musical tones for which Black Sabbath became famous.

In 2000-thirty years after it was first released-Black Sabbath won a Grammy for Best Metal Performance for their song "Iron Man." They even performed at Buckingham Palace for the Queen's Golden Jubilee in 2002. But their success wasn't immediate or without hardship. From drug and alcohol abuse, to marital discord, to being called "Satanists," to constant management problems and exits by band members-most notably Ozzy Osbourne-the musicians of Black Sabbath didn't have an easy time of it.

Even their lighter moments were a bit macabre. One memorable story centers on Ozzy fishing from the window of his room at the Edgewater Hotel in Seattle. He caught a shark, hauled it through the window, and proceeded to drag it into the bathtub-where he eventually dismembered it, soaking the room in blood. And then there's Iommi himself, a prankster who enjoyed setting drummer Bill Ward's beard on fire-that is until the time when the fire got out of control and Ward received third-degree burns.

In Iron Man, Iommi gives us a glimpse of what he experienced as a member of this legendary group, taking us through some of the band's most bizarre moments onstage and backstage, and bringing us from the recording studios to the (trashed) hotel rooms. Throughout, we see the camaraderie within the band, as well as the struggles each member went through on their way to the top of the charts.

HAZZARD NATION CONVERGES ON THE BLUE RIDGE MOUNTAINS AUGUST 13 & 14
If you are driving through the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia in mid August, don’t be surprised if you see scores of ‘General Lees,’ the orange 1969 Dodge Charger which has become the most recognizable car in the world. And don’t be surprised if you see a gal that looks like Daisy Duke, because Catherine Bach, who played Daisy in the hit TV series “Dukes of Hazzard,” will be there among the several thousand fans gathering for the First Annual ‘Hazzard Homecoming’ in Sperryville, Virginia.

Ben Jones, the former Congressman who is surely better known as ‘Cooter’ from the show, is presenting the event along with his better half, Alma Viator, who has become known to Dukes fans as simply “Miss Alma.”
The couple has propelled the Dukes’ craze to unbelievable heights. They own and operate two popular Dukes themed store/museums called ‘Cooter’s Place,’ located in Gatlinburg and Nashville, Tennessee. Fans have also demonstrated their love for the popular show through the years by gathering for an annual festival Jones and Viator created that began in Sperryville in 1999. Sperryville is nestled in bucolic and scenic Rappahannock County, adjacent to the Shenandoah National Park and the Skyline Drive.
“We started the event here and called it ‘DukesFest’ ten years ago,” says Jones. “But, it outgrew Sperryville and eventually ended up with nearly 100,000 fans in Nashville at the Tennessee State Fairgrounds & Music City Motorplex. The event continued to grow, and in 2007 we bequeathed it to John Schneider (Bo Duke).” Jones adds, “John has been too busy to continue ‘DukesFest’ for the last couple of years, and we want to get back to our roots here.” Fans near and far are expressing interest in attending. “People from several states away have already contacted us about coming to the event, as well as folks from Canada, France and England”, says Viator. “They love the ‘Dukes’ and they know all about the Blue Ridge Mountains and Southern hospitality.”
Front and center are the stars, and Hazzard Homecoming will feature personal appearances from many cast members including Bach, Jones, the great James Best, who played Rosco P. Coltrane, as well as deputies Enos (Sonny Shroyer) and Cletus (Rick Hurst). Jones notes, “I’m hoping that stars Bo and Luke, John Schneider and Tom Wopat, can drop in, but John is doing a TV series, and Tom is starring in a new Broadway musical, but you never know.”
In addition to the popular meet & greets, there will be a car show featuring an estimated 50 General Lees, a small stunt show, two days of music, great food and family fun. Events at Hazzard Homecoming will feature festival style seating, and attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets. “Back when we started ‘Cooter’s’ here some years ago, we would have country music on Saturdays, and gospel and bluegrass on Sundays,” says Jones. “I think we’ll stick with that for the Hazzard Homecoming. I’ve already booked country star T. Graham Brown and some others. There is no tellin’ who might show up.”
The “Dukes of Hazzard” series, which originally aired 1979 through 1985, is once again getting high ratings, now on Country Music Television (CMT). “Each generation that comes along falls in love with it,” says Jones. “They never say ‘The Dukes was a great show.’ They always say ‘The Dukes is a great show.”
Discount tickets for Hazzard Homecoming are on sale now at www.cootersplace.com. Advance tickets are $15 for Saturday and Sunday, or $10 for one day, plus a $2 handling charge. At the gate, a weekend pass is $20 and a single day ticket is $15. Children 10 years and younger are free, as well as seniors 65 and over and U.S. service men and women with proper military ID.
Hazzard Homecoming will be held at 12018 Lee Highway, Sperryville, Virginia, 22740. For more information about the festival, call (615) 872-8358

The 1st release from the late, great Ronnie James Dio estate's imprint label, Niji Entertainment... DIO At Donington UK: 1983 & 1987, which hits stores in the U.S. on Tuesday, 11/9 (containing two complete, vintage, live DIO concerts!)

I already have many tatts, but got this specific design in honor of all women who have suffered with breast cancer…Moms, sisters, cousins, aunts. The ribbon says "All Moms" instead of just the traditional "Mom". It also features the initials of two people who died from cancer recently, one of whom was a great friend who whose funeral was going on at exactly the same time as the tatt was going on. I feel very strongly that tattoos should mean something, and not just be a fashion statement.
- Adam

Tattoo shown is from Eternal Color Tattoos & Piercing.
During the month of October 5% of any tattoo and 50% of any tattoo containing a pink ribbon will be donated to the Susan G. Komen foundation in support of breast cancer research.

Black Country Communion
is a devastating head-on collision between American and British rock influences—a true supergroup that delivers a rock experience greater than the sum of its supremely talented parts.

The seed for Black Country Communion was planted when legendary frontman and bass guitarist Glenn Hughes (Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Trapeze) and master blues-rock guitarist Joe Bonamassa combined forces on stage in Los Angeles in November 2009 for an explosive performance at Guitar Center’s King of the Blues event.
The brainchild of producer Kevin Shirley (Black Crowes, Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin), the band added to its rock lineage with powerhouse drummer Jason Bonham (Led Zeppelin, Foreigner) and keyboardist Derek Sherinian (Dream Theatre, Billy Idol, Alice Cooper). Named after the industrial area in Britain where both Hughes and Bonham were born and raised, Black Country Communion began rehearsing and recording tracks written by both Bonamassa and Hughes at Shangri-La Studios in early 2010. Their debut album will be released September 21, 2010 on Bonamassa’s J&R Adventures label. The band is planning a tour of select venues in 2011.
